The Infant Feeding Program focuses on helping mothers and infants have a successful breastfeeding experience. We provide care, treatment and support seven days a week. Our knowledgeable staff is committed to helping you and your baby get the best start. The lactation team includes registered nurses who are International Board Certified Lactation Consultants.

Our lactation consultants can help you address any of the following issues. If you have question or wish to make an appointment with a lactation consultant, call 612-863-4638.

  • breastfeeding problems
  • latch-on difficulty
  • sore/damaged nipples
  • engorgement
  • slow or no weight gain
  • need for supplemental feedings
  • milk supply concerns - too much/not enough
  • baby fussiness related to feedings
  • plugged ducts/mastitis
  • advice on breastfeeding equipment
  • returning to work while breastfeeding
  • milk expression and storage information
  • weaning advice
  • premature infants
  • infants with special health concerns/problems

Insurance coverage

As an outpatient service of Abbott Northwestern Hospital, the Infant Feeding Program is covered by most insurances and Medicaid.

Monday to Friday: 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (except holidays)
