Breast Cancer Diagnosis And Treatment

WomenCare artwork Breast cancer is the third leading cause of death among women, after heart disease and lung cancer. The Piper Breast Center™, supported by the WomenCare program, offers consolidated, comprehensive and convenient screening and diagnostic consultation services for women and their families. Every woman who receives a mammogram is given a timely medical interpretation of the film, a demonstration of breast self-examination techniques and an opportunity to view a videotape that explains breast self-exams if she desires.

For women who are diagnosed with breast cancer and their families, the Piper Breast Center offers a variety of support programs and services before, during and after surgery. A team of specialists evaluate the newly diagnosed woman to recommend an individualized treatment plan. Consultations with specialists from appropriate related disciplines can also be conveniently scheduled at the Center.

The Piper Breast Center also offers a monthly support group for women diagnosed with breast cancer. This late afternoon meeting provides women the opportunity to share their feelings and concerns with other women who have had breast cancer or who recently have been diagnosed. Regular educational sessions are also offered to deal with specific areas of concern, such as hair loss, wigs, skin care, breast forms and special garments.

For more information about the Piper Breast Center, call 612-863-3150 or 1-866-655-6333.
