Thirteen Allina Medical Clinics Honored by Minnesota Bridges to ExcellenceMINNEAPOLIS 08/20/2008--Minnesota Bridges to Excellence (BTE) recently recognized thirteen Allina Medical Clinic (AMC) sites for meeting the 2008 criteria for excellence in optimal care of patients with diabetes and/or cardiovascular disease. This external program is sponsored by employers organized as the Buyers Health Care Action Group (BHCAG). According to Bruce McCarthy, MD, MPH, AMC chief medical officer, “Those recognized have shown their commitment to the care of patients. They understand quality care is critical to improving the lives of patients." A select group of providers are chosen by the BHCAG that have demonstrated to patients, employers and health plans a commitment to improving health outcomes in diabetes and or cardiovascular care by meeting the performance targets set by BTE. Sites provided data to Minnesota Community Measurement by using the organization’s direct data submission process. BTE evaluates the data submitted and rewards clinic sites in order to provide consumers information about the quality of care of health care providers. An award dinner and ceremony for recognized sites was held recently. AMC will receive at total of $62,108.36 ($59,319.44 for diabetes and $2,788.92 for cardiovascular). These amounts are based on the number of eligible patients with diabetes or cardiovascular disease from the BTE participating purchasers seen by the medical group and the portion of patients with diabetes or cardiovascular disease treated at the clinic.
